For collectors, dealers & novices interested in
SAMOVARS. Ever since I sold my first samovar to the Russian Tea
Room, in NYC, people have been asking me for more
information on the history and use of Russian samovars.
This book was the first in the English language to answer
the many questions that were raised while dealing with
customers, merchants, decorators and other interested parties.
Samovars were the most efficient way to boil water, prior
to the invention of the electric coffee pot. The book,
SAMOVARS: The Art of the Russian Metalworkers, gives
the readers an easy way to identify samovars. The idea
was to provide collectors and novices alike a background
history and a full description of typical Russian Samovars.
This is a what-to-look-for spiral bound book, with 56
figures including photos, drawings, and a map. The reader
will find recipes, charts, and tables showing a list of
makers, dates, and the cities of production...which make
this book a valuable companion to those who have Russian
samovars and to those contemplating the purchase of
their first samovar.

PUBLISHER'S COMMENTS

FIL CARAVAN INC. contact:

Antiques dealer, Mehmet Nabi Israfil, writes about Russian
Samovars. Established in 1976, Fil Caravan Inc. has been serving an
international clientele in all aspects of collecting art and
antiques. Mehmet Nabi Israfil, is the founder of Fil
Caravan Inc., and the author of the book SAMOVARS:
The Art of the Russian Metalworkers, has spent 26 years
selling, collecting and gathering information on Russian
samovars and metalworkers. In the gallery viewing the
samovar selection, ''...people would inquire with tears in
their eyes, about a samovar similar to the ones that they
had seen in their childhood...'' Ordinary people and
collectors have demonstrated equal passion to own one or
to learn more about the samovars of their past... Russians
have a national pride in being associated with samovars in
history, and so do immigrants and their children who
emigrated from Russia at the turn of the century. The book
is factual, and has detailed listings of makers and cities of
production. The book is the most comprehensive treatment
of the subject in the English language.
